5 Ways to Update Your Kitchen Without Breaking the Bank

Ever get lost in your dreams of your kitchen remodel while scouring through endless amounts of online inspirational photos? Sometimes we lose side of the fact that a kitchen can receive a major face-lift with the help of some minor updates without ripping out the existing cabinetry or making changes to the footprint of the space. Here are five impactful ways to update the look of your kitchen.

Before:

The owners of this gorgeous Geist home, built in 1994, had been playing around with the idea of remodeling their original kitchen for about two-three years. The cabinets were still in great shape – but the rest of the kitchen felt outdated. The original white Corian countertops were showing their age with scratches and the appliances felt dated and out of style. The homeowners wanted a look current with the modern age. With the help of small yet powerful upgrades, they certainly achieved their modern vision.

Countertop & Backsplash Upgrades:

During the design phase of their kitchen remodel, the homeowners were presented with several different countertop options and both immediately pointed at this beautiful piece of granite in an “Uba Tuba” color. The rich colors of the granite and the coordinating “Baoding Crm Qtz Brick” backsplash tile really pop next to the existing white cabinetry. Carrying the backsplash tile up to the ceiling has been a popular trend in kitchen remodels that really catches the eye.

Appliances:

Replacing old appliances with brand new coordinating stainless steel appliances including the gas range, vent hood, refrigerator, microwave and wall oven also make a dramatic improvement to the look of any kitchen. When picking out new appliances, be sure to pay close attention to the specs, height and depth to fit within the space of your current cabinetry. In this case, two cabinets above the gas range had to be removed to make way for the new wall-mounted vent hood. If you do not have ample storage to justify removing cabinetry, you can simply opt for a coordinating under-cabinet hood.

Modernized Plumbing:

Installing a new faucet and under-mount sink is another great way to update the look of a kitchen. Plumbing fixtures come in hundreds of different finishes and styles. Be sure to pick out a finish that coordinates with the style of your kitchen.

New Hardware:

New hardware is a small yet very mighty way to modernize existing cabinetry. Again, keeping the hardware finish cohesive with the rest of the kitchen is key to polishing off the look of a kitchen remodel.
